BC Crawley-Tonybet played two very important games last week. On Monday, 20/02/12, Crawley took on unbeaten this year Bexhill Giants in BasketballSussex. Having lost to Bexhill in the first round by 4 points, Crawley had to win this game by more than 5 points to gain advantage in title race against closest rivals Bexhill Giants.

The MSc European Basketball Coaching Science course will welcome its third cohort of students this summer in Kaunas, Lithuania. This unique and innovative MSc course has been integrated into the FIBA Europe Universitas, and is coordinated by the University of Worcester, UK, in partnership with the Lithuanian Academy for Physical Education and Sport, and the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The course allows students to complete study whilst maintaining their personal life and professional careers throughout the year. Places are still available on the course for anyone interested.

Last weekend, 11/02/12, BC Crawley-Tonybet took on Ealing Phoenicians in National League, a team that beat Crawley at home in first round. BC Crawley-Tonybet is eyeing for play offs, knew they had to win this game to keep high hopes for going through to National Top 8 at the end of March.

The festive period is over; all the players are back and fit to play, so BC Crawley Tonybet will try to do their best to win National League Div 4. Currently in second place, BC Crawley stands a good chance of going into playoffs at the end of March to try to land the biggest win in Crawley's basketball history. On Saturday (14th January) BC Crawley men took on Southgate Academical Lions.

BC Crawley-TonyBet started New Year with 2 WINS

New Year started with two games - BasketballSussex Cup game vs Brighton Runnin Rebels and National League game vs Feltham Warriors. On Friday, 06/01/2012, BC Crawley-Tonybet went to Brighton to play A Cup game with just 8 players. Brighton Runnin Rebels started the game superbly scoring 6 points in a row and Crawley men had to come with something quick to save the Cup game as just a winner progresses to the next round.

On Thursday, 01/12/11, we travelled to Eastbourne to play BasketballSussex game vs Bourne Stars. With just seven players available for this game BC Crawley-Tonybet had to perform well to win. Bourne Stars started the game well with 2 quick 3 pointers and Crawley's defence had a temporary cold shower. The guys regrouped quickly and Bourne players were forced to rely on 3 pointers as all routes to the basket were shut down by big man Marius Talijunas.

BC Crawley started the week on Monday, 21/11/11, taking on National League Div 3 Bognor Pirates team in BasketballSussex. BC Crawley wanted to prove themselves and spectators that they can play and win games. So they did more than asked. Team started the game with a lot of energy, forcing Pirates to take tough shots meanwhile Crawley men had no trouble scoring points.

BC Crawley-Tonybet hit a rough path last weekend with 3 scheduled games

11/11/11, Friday, we had an away game to Bexhill, Sussex league. Both teams were undefeated this season. As first the minutes of the game showed it should have been an easy game, but Crawley men came unprepared mentally and got punished. Bexhill managed to stay close to Crawley throughout the game and with a huge help of referees pulled a superb win 74:70 which ended Crawley's 2 year winning streak in BasketballSussex.

Weekly update - two national league games

On Monday, 24/10/11, BC Crawley-TonyBet played University of East London NASSA. Both teams have had impressive season so far with 4 wins in a row. As always Crawley men started the game well, making easy lay-ups, but NASSA kept high percentage shooting which put a lot of pressure BC Crawley. All Crawley's efforts to run away early in the game were matched by Londoners. 20:27 after the first quarter.

Yet again, BC Crawley had a busy weekend. Yesterday (Sunday 16th October) we went to London to play National League game against Southgate Academical Lions. After 3 hours of going round London we finally got to the game 30 minutes late and with just 7 players.Thankfully, the referees waited for us and we managed to get the starting 5 on the court. As always we start all our games very well, but this time we knew it was going to be very hard as we had just 2 players for substitutions.We took Southgate Lions by surprise and scored a lot of easy points after outstanding passing.

On Monday (3rd October) we opened our BasketballSussex season with a home game against East Grinstead Flyers. Quick summary: Most of the BC Crawley players couldnt play the whole game due to important game on Tuesday at Bognor. but the new summer signings had a chance to prove themselves. And they did. The 16 years old Danielius Kazlauskas, William Sibley, Arnas Palacionis put outstanding performances which resulted in easy win for Crawley (68:55)

BC Crawley started very well the first 2 minutes outscoring Brentwood 8:2. When everything seemed to be under control, a bunch of mistakes came out of nowhere resulting in Brentwood scoring fast break points and putting Crawley behind. New summer signings proved to be exactly what Crawley needed at this level. Marius Talijunas, Mantas Kukulskis, Andzej Micholc & Darius Vytuvis made some shots which put Crawley back in the game. 23:24

Bexhill Giants SE Regional basketball Tournament last Sunday, 5 strong teams were competing to be crowned Champions. All the money raised in the tournament went to Kidney Research UK. BC Crawley - TonyBet was proud to be a part of a such event. BC Crawley - TonyBet had four games - against Brighton RR (59-36), Bexhill Giants (35-29), East Grinstead (60-21), New House (60-29), after four wins the team finished first, winning the tournament. |

The EBL team the Crawley Basketball Club have broken new ground in England Basketball with the announcement that they will be supported by the same sponsors as the Lithuanian National team ‘TONYBET’ for the 2011 season. TONYBET will be joining PAPA JOHNS and CANADIAN SPA CO. as the main shirt sponsors and form a strong support for Crawley Basketball Club alongside 3 other local companies : ACCIDENT SPECIALISTS CRAWLEY, TAYLORS PITSTOP AND KOMFORT WORKSPACE. Businessman and professional poker player Antanas Guoga, better known as Tony G currently was a major sponsor of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. When the country's national team failed to directly qualify for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey and had to apply for a wild-card entry, he paid a large share of the required application fee. The team was chosen for the tournament, and won the bronze medal with TONYBET on their jerseys.

Crawley BC will start pre - season conditioning trainings on 1st of August, which will include gym, stadium & court! Indoor trainings will start on 19th of August at St Wilfrids school, Southgate, RH11 8PG at 7.30-9.30pm. Trainings will be on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 7.30-9.30pm excluding Bank Holidays. Crawley BC will have long and busy season, starting from October 2011. Club have been granted a place in National League Division Four, and will be playing 20 games around South East, also Sussex League and Cup, National Cup and National Shield. Club is working hard at the moment, securing the sponsorship for a year, inviting new players, which will help to bring in more spectators and to make every home venue a basketball show. There was a County Basketball Cup Final in Brighton yesterday where Haywards Heath Panthers took on undefeated Crawley BC.
Both teams know each other very well as they have played twice already this season. So in order to win a final, something new had to be invented and Crawley BC did their homework very well. They completed switched off both Haywards Heath Panthers' leaders- J. Conner was struggling to get the ball due to Crawley's full court pressure on him and ex pro player D. Midgely got his fourth fouls early in the second quarter.
